Welcome to the Bookings Car Festival

21ST Annual Brookings Car Show!
Saturday, June 8, 2013

The Brookings Car Show is an annual event put on by the Brookings Car Council.  The second weekend in June has seen Brookings, SD, filled with hot rods and muscle cars since 1993.

It is our 21st Annual Brookings Car Show this year, and we are planning on having another great turnout in Pioneer Park.  Come out for the day and enjoy some casual viewing of cars and trucks in the 31 different classes we have to offer.  The one big change for this year is that we have decided to have the car show in Pioneer Park on SATURDAY instead of Sunday, so there will be NO SHOW-N-SHINE downtown on Saturday.  Everyone will still have the opportunity to show off their prized ride; just bring your vehicle out to Pioneer Park and show it in the car show.  We hope everyone that entered a vehicle in the car show last year appreciated the free car show registration we offered to everyone for our 20th Annual celebration.  This year we will be charging the regular registration fee again to help us cover our costs.

The main event of past Brookings Car Show weekends is the car show in Pioneer Park, where we have had up to around 200 cars.  As mentioned, there are 31 classes of cars and trucks competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards, along with a Judge’s Choice Award.  There are dash plaques for the first 200 entries and cash drawings for car show participants throughout the afternoon.  There will be several food vendors to choose from, and with the great collection of cars and trucks to view at the show, it will be an afternoon of fun for all in attendance to walk around and enjoy the cars and trucks on display and to grab something to eat.  Please see the Schedule link for a listing of the events and the times on Saturday.

The annual Poker Run Cruise will be held again later on Saturday afternoon.  It will start at Pioneer Park after the awards have all been given out at the car show.  We’ll line everybody up and everyone will leave from there.  If you want to be in the Poker Run Cruise and you don’t enter your vehicle in the car show, just take your vehicle out to Pioneer Park and register to go on the cruise at the registration tent by the paved road that exits the west side of the park onto Western Avenue.  The cruise will end up at the Nick’s Hamburger Shop Park in downtown Brookings like it has in the past.   A meal will be served down there for the people participating in the cruise.

So, as you have been doing for the past years, get your classics out of the garage, clean them up if need be, and get them entered in the judged car show on Saturday.  Help us beat our record and make this our best turnout ever!
